Setup

Set it up once.

Witnessed only sees the emails where you include our address. Pick the path that fits your setup — a one-click extension, a server rule, or a single Bcc. All of them feed the same public record.

Copy this — paste it into the recipe below

Chrome extension · personal Gmail

Best foranyone using Gmail on Chrome. One install, no configuration, works on every new compose until you turn it off.

  1. 01Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. 02Open Gmail and click Compose. seal@witnessed.cc appears in the Bcc row automatically.
  3. 03Click the Witnessed icon in the toolbar on any Gmail tab to see a proof-of-business chip for every visible sender.

Every outbound Gmail compose is silently sealed from this browser. Remove the Bcc on any individual email if you ever need to — the extension won't re-add it on a thread you've already touched.

Google Workspace · admin

Best forteams on Google Workspace with a custom domain. One rule covers every employee, no per-user installs.

  1. 01Sign in to admin.google.com with an admin account.
  2. 02Apps → Google Workspace → Gmail → Compliance.
  3. 03Find "Content compliance" and click "Configure" (or "Add another rule").
  4. 04Name the rule "Witnessed BCC".
  5. 05Email messages to affect: select Outbound only. Leave the expression list empty to match every outgoing message.
  6. 06Under "If the above expressions match, do the following", choose "Modify message" → "Add more recipients" → "Add Bcc recipient" → enter seal@witnessed.cc.
  7. 07Save. The rule activates within a few minutes.

Every email sent from your domain is automatically BCC'd to Witnessed. No employee action, no browser extensions, no per-message decisions.

Microsoft 365 · admin

Best forteams on Exchange Online or Microsoft 365 with a custom domain. One transport rule covers the organization.

  1. 01Sign in to admin.exchange.microsoft.com with an admin account.
  2. 02Mail flow → Rules → "+ Create a new rule".
  3. 03Name the rule "Witnessed BCC".
  4. 04Apply this rule if: "The sender is located" → Inside the organization. Add condition: "The recipient is located" → Outside the organization.
  5. 05Do the following: "Bcc the message to" → enter seal@witnessed.cc.
  6. 06Set rule mode to "Enforce". Activate and save.

Every external email sent from your organization is automatically BCC'd to Witnessed. Internal mail is unaffected.

Outlook desktop

Best forindividuals on Outlook classic (Windows or Mac) without admin access. The rule runs locally as you send.

  1. 01File → Manage Rules & Alerts → New Rule.
  2. 02Under "Start from a blank rule" select "Apply rule on messages I send" → Next.
  3. 03Leave all conditions unchecked to apply the rule to every message you send → Next → Yes (confirm).
  4. 04Actions: tick "Cc the message to people or public group" (Outlook classic has no native Bcc action in rules; Cc works and the recipient never sees a separate trust page for our address). Click the underlined link and enter seal@witnessed.cc → OK.
  5. 05Skip exceptions → Next. Name the rule "Witnessed seal" → Finish.

Outlook copies seal@witnessed.cc on every outbound email you send. The rule only runs on the machine where it was created — repeat once on each device you use.

Manual Bcc · any provider

Best forProton, Fastmail, Apple Mail, iOS / Android mail apps, or anything else with a Bcc field. Always works, every client.

  1. 01Compose a business email in your usual client.
  2. 02Paste seal@witnessed.cc into the Bcc field. Most clients save it for next time — after a few sends it autocompletes on its own.
  3. 03Send the email. Your record on witnessed.cc grows the moment it arrives.

Per-message control, zero configuration, any provider. The fallback that works everywhere — and the right choice if you only want specific emails on record.
